I’m Melting!!!!: How to Enjoy Summer in Phoenix

The Arizona summer is legendary. Of course you’ve heard stories about frying eggs on the sidewalk, driving with oven mitts, and delicate items melting if you leave them in the car. But even during the ridiculously hot summer, Arizona is lively and enjoyable. You just have to know where to look.

Phoenix area outdoor activities can seem hard to come by during the summer months. In fact, there are many ways to enjoy the desert that won’t leave you burned.

Summer Concerts (April 29- July 1)

McCormick Stillman Railroad Park hosts outdoor evening concerts during the late spring/early summer. These concerts take place during the pleasantly warm evening hours. Bring your own  outdoor picnic and enjoy both music and a ride on a miniature train or a carousel. This was a favorite summer activity for the owners of Anything for Baby while their child was growing up! (Another adorable picture from the owners. This kid is 22!!!)

Day at the Pool

Arizona is overflowing with public pools. On a 100 degree plus day, there is nothing more refreshing than a dip in cool water. Even if you do not have a pool in your backyard, one is probably easily accessible! Many public pools are owned and operated by the City of Phoenix and surrounding suburbs. Here is a list of well maintained and clean public pools:0

Encanto Pool (Downtown Phoenix)

Desert Oasis Aquatic Center (Chandler)

Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center (Glendale)

Chaparral Park (Scottsdale)

Topgolf (Scottsdale)

Feel like golfing, but don’t feel like actually golfing? Topgolf may be for you! This experience is best summed up as an enhanced driving range. The driving range has the ability to run several different games that make golf fun and exciting for the whole family. If your family is not into normal golf, topgolf will enhance their experience and add an enjoyable layer to the game. Food and drink are also offered.
